Artés is a municipality in Catalonia, Spain. Belonging to the province of Barcelona, in the region of Bages.

It is believed that the name of the town derives from the Latin term Artium (fortified hill). There are indications that in the sixth century there was a fortified church in the area that served as a primitive settlement for the inhabitants of the area. The archaeological remains found at the site of Matacans as well as the Roman inscriptions of the second and third centuries found in the Plaça Vella (Old Square) confirm that there were continuous settlers for centuries.

Artés is one of the first towns in the region that appears in written documents since it appears in one dated June 24, 889. In this document, King Eudes of France granted various privileges to the churches of Santa Maria and San Pedro de Vich. Among these concessions was the valley of Artés.

Currently the economy of Artés is basically due to the industrial sector, although there are also large areas of agricultural land, mainly vineyards and wheat.
